The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked. We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Philadelphia Phillies
This is one of my favorite spots on the slate. Brady Singer has had a tough year, and once runners start getting on base, things have a tendency to snowball in a hurry. That’s a dangerous combination against a lineup as patient and powerful as Philadelphia’s. After watching this offense all season, I’ve learned not to overreact to a quiet game or two—they’re fully capable of hanging a crooked number on anybody. I’ll have plenty of Phillies exposure.

San Diego Padres
I’m probably going right back to the Padres. Merrill Kelly is the kind of pitcher who’s capable of putting together a quality start, but he’s also been far more hittable this season than we’ve seen in years past. This lineup has been swinging it well lately, and there’s enough power throughout the order to make Kelly pay if he leaves pitches over the plate. I don’t know that they’ll be the highest-owned stack, but I love the upside and won’t hesitate to be overweight.
Milwaukee Brewers
This feels like a classic Brewers spot. Andre Pallante does a decent job keeping the ball on the ground, but he’s also the type of pitcher who pitches to contact, and that’s always a little scary against an offense that keeps applying pressure. Milwaukee can beat you with power, speed, or by simply putting the ball in play and forcing mistakes. They may not be the flashiest stack on the slate, but they’re one of the more complete offenses in baseball, and I like them quite a bit in tournaments.

San Francisco Giants
The Giants don’t always jump off the page in DFS, but I like this spot more than I think the field will. Ryan Feltner has been one of the more attackable starters in baseball, and while Oracle Park isn’t exactly a launching pad, a bad pitcher is still a bad pitcher. San Francisco has quietly been much more competitive offensively over the last month, and if Feltner gets into trouble early, I could see the Giants putting together one of those seven- or eight-run nights that wins tournaments without attracting much ownership.
Arizona Diamondbacks
Arizona is in a pretty nice spot here. Griffin Canning has always been a bit volatile, and that’s still been the case this season. When the command starts to drift, the walks pile up, the pitch count climbs, and innings can unravel quickly. The Diamondbacks have been one of the more explosive offenses in baseball, and they’re exactly the type of team that can capitalize when a starter starts handing out free baserunners. This is another stack I’ll be prioritizing.
