The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked. We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
San Diego Padres
This might be my favorite stack of the night. Zac Gallen just hasn’t looked like himself for most of the season, and at this point I’m more interested in attacking the profile than respecting the name. What really stands out is how well several Padres hitters have historically seen him, so there’s already some confidence in the matchup before you even factor in Gallen’s struggles this year. San Diego has quietly been swinging it well, and this feels like one of those spots where everything lines up. I’ll be overweight here.

Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers against Michael Lorenzen? Yeah, I’ll take that every time. Lorenzen has had a rough season and has really struggled once lineups start putting traffic on the bases. That’s about the last thing you want against an offense like this. This feels like one of those games where the Dodgers can score early, knock the starter out, and never really let up. One of the top stacks on the slate without much debate.
Philadelphia Phillies
I’d be surprised if this offense doesn’t come out with a little extra edge after managing just one run yesterday in a blowout 15-1 loss. Andrew Abbott has pitched well for stretches this season, so this isn’t some obvious smash spot, but the Phillies are one of the few lineups that can make a good pitcher look pretty ordinary when they’re locked in. They don’t chase much, they make you work, and once they get into a bullpen they can pile on in a hurry. I don’t think they’ll be the highest-owned stack on the slate, but the ceiling is every bit as high as the teams around them.

New York Mets
Seth Lugo hasn’t been an awful pitcher this season, but even so, I don’t expect many people to even consider the Mets; still, that’s exactly what makes them interesting. New York’s offense has been inconsistent enough that they’ll probably go overlooked anyway, but if Lugo is even a little off, this lineup has enough pop to flip a slate. I’m not building around them, but I’ll have a sprinkle in MME.
Texas Rangers
This is definitely a “don’t try this at home” kind of stack, but that’s what tournaments are for. The Rangers haven’t exactly been lighting the world on fire offensively, but Jose Soriano has really taken a step backward after a strong start to the season. He’s become much more hittable over the last couple of months, and if that version shows up again, Texas has enough power to do some damage. I’m not going out of my way to get them, but they’re absolutely a team I’ll sprinkle into MME builds.
