FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Athletics
This is exactly the type of spot where I’m willing to take another shot on Oakland. Connor Prielipp is likely to start, and a pitcher carrying a 5.00 ERA isn’t exactly someone I’m looking to avoid with the Athletics. Oakland has legitimate power throughout the lineup, and we’ve seen them put up big numbers against pitchers who are struggling to get outs. The A’s are always going to come with some volatility, but that’s part of the appeal. I like the ceiling here, especially if Prielipp is forced to work from behind early.

Tampa Bay Rays
Tanner Bibee is good enough, but he’s been inconsistent all season. The Rays are exactly the type of offense that can make a good pitcher work, and they don’t need to beat him with three home runs to get there, but they definitely have the pop to do that. If they can string together some quality at-bats and get into the bullpen, the upside is definitely there. I don’t mind having some exposure here at all.
Minnesota Twins
Mason Barnett is still a young pitcher trying to establish himself, and this feels like the type of matchup where Minnesota could make him work. The Twins have been one of the more unpredictable offenses in baseball, but they have enough power to turn a few mistakes into a big inning pretty quickly. I don’t think this is a spot where I’m going to force them into a ton of lineups, but I like the upside as a tournament stack, especially if Barnett struggles to get ahead of hitters.

Baltimore Orioles
This is a pretty appealing spot for me in tournaments. Bryce Elder has been vulnerable enough this season that I don’t mind going after him, and the Orioles have plenty of power throughout the lineup to make him pay if he’s leaving pitches over the plate. Baltimore has been inconsistent, but that’s also why I like them in tournaments. When this offense is clicking, it can put up a big number in a hurry, and I think this is a good matchup for that to happen.
Milwaukee Brewers
I keep finding myself interested in offenses against Ryan Feltner (as do most people, I’d guess). He’s been far too hittable this season, and the Brewers are exactly the kind of lineup that can make a pitcher work from top to bottom. Milwaukee doesn’t need to rely on one big inning or a bunch of home runs to put up a number, either. They can string together at-bats, take advantage of mistakes, and put pressure on a pitcher. I like this spot quite a bit, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Brewers end up being one of the better offenses on the slate.
