The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | June 9

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks (six if you can read between the lines below)
Atlanta Braves
This is a spot I’ll gladly go right back to. Erick Fedde has been somewhat better than many expected this season, but he’s still carrying a 4.94 ERA and 1.41 WHIP, and Atlanta is the type of lineup that can make a decent outing go sideways in a hurry. The Braves haven’t consistently played to their full offensive potential this year, but but the ceiling remains as high as any offense on the slate and they’re almost always viable. Strong tournament option with plenty of upside.

Milwaukee Brewers
JT Ginn has shown flashes, but consistency has been an issue, and that’s a dangerous combination against a lineup that can pressure pitchers in multiple ways. Add in the favorable hitting environment, and this becomes one of the more appealing tournament spots on the board. Milwaukee can beat you with power, speed, or simply by forcing pitchers into uncomfortable counts, and I like their chances of putting together a strong offensive performance here.

Athletics
I’ll have interest on the other side of this game as well. This is another spot where the environment matters quite a bit. Robert Gasser is a talented young arm, but he’s still working his way through major league lineups, and now he has to do it in one of the best hitting environments in baseball. The Athletics have been one of my favorite tournament offenses all season because of the power throughout the lineup, and this feels like another opportunity to chase that upside. I like them quite a bit in GPPs.

Chicago Cubs
Any time you get a game at Coors Field, it deserves attention, and that’s certainly the case here. Tomoyuki Sugano has not thrown the ball well this season, and pitching in altitude is a different challenge altogether, especially against an offense with as much power as Chicago brings regardless of their overall volatility. The Cubs have shown all season they can put up crooked numbers when they get rolling, and the park alone raises both the floor and ceiling considerably. One of my favorite offenses on the slate.

Houston Astros
This feels like one of the better spots to attack on the slate. Walbert Urena is still trying to establish himself at the major league level, and inexperienced pitchers facing veteran offenses is a situation I usually want exposure to. Houston’s offense has started showing signs of waking up recently, and they have enough disciplined hitters to force a young pitcher into mistakes. If Urena gets behind in counts early, this could turn into a long night. Strong tournament stack with plenty of upside.
