The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | June 30

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
San Diego Padres
This is one of my favorite spots tonight. Matthew Boyd has not pitched well when healthy this season, posting a 5.02 ERA and 1.36 WHIP thus far. The Padres have underwhelmed this season, but they’ve been a bit better recently, and their talent throughout the lineup is still pretty good, and they’re the kind of offense that can flip a slate when nobody wants to click on them. I won’t go crazy here, but I’ll definitely be over the field in larger-field GPPs.

Los Angeles Dodgers
It’s hard not to love this spot. Jeffrey Springs has had a rough go of it lately, and now he has to deal with the Dodgers in Sacramento, which has played much friendlier to hitters than most people expected. Even if Los Angeles hasn’t looked quite as unstoppable as we’re used to seeing, this lineup still has as much upside as anybody in baseball. If Springs starts putting extra runners on base, this has all the makings of one of those seven-run innings that buries a slate. One of my favorite stacks of the night.

Atlanta Braves
I’m happy to keep taking shots on Atlanta in spots like this. Matthew Liberatore has a 5.56 ERA and 1.58 WHIP, and that’s exactly the type of profile that can get into trouble quickly against a lineup with this much talent. The Braves haven’t consistently played to their ceiling this season, but their upside is very high, which honestly to me just makes them more interesting in tournaments. If Liberatore starts handing out traffic, Atlanta has more than enough firepower to make him pay.

Minnesota Twins
I don’t know if this is sneaky, but I like it regardless. Mike Burrows had a nice start (finally) last time out, going six innings and allowing just one run to the Blue Jays, but he still carries a 5.48 ERA and 1.50 WHIP on the season, and we’ve seen him struggle when innings start to snowball. The Twins can be frustrating, but they’re also exactly the kind of offense that can put up eight runs out of nowhere when things click. I think they’ll be one of the chalkier stacks, and that’s perfectly fine with me.

Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays have been pretty underwhelming for much of the season, but this feels like a spot where I’m willing to overlook that. Sean Manaea has had some rough outings and has battled inconsistency all year, even though there have been flashes of the old version lately. Toronto still has enough talent in the lineup that if Manaea isn’t locating early, things could get sideways in a hurry. Not a core stack for me at all, but definitely one I’ll have in the tournament mix.
