The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | May 26

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Los Angeles Dodgers
Hard not to like this spot given both the environment and the arm they’re facing. Kyle Freeland has struggled badly lately, allowing 21 earned runs over his last four starts, and his ERA has climbed to 7.22 during that stretch. The Dodgers are always capable of putting up crooked numbers in a hurry, and this is exactly the type of matchup where one big inning can completely snowball. Strong full-stack spot and one of the top ceiling offenses on the slate.

Houston Astros
There’s definitely upside here if Jack Leiter’s command issues continue. He’s pitched to a 4.61 ERA and 1.39 WHIP this season, and while the strikeout stuff is real, the damage can pile up quickly once traffic builds. Houston’s offense has been inconsistent at times, but this is still a lineup with enough power to capitalize if Leiter falls behind in counts. I’m good getting exposure here in tournaments, especially if ownership stays reasonable.

Arizona Diamondbacks
Arizona continues to score runs in bunches, averaging close to six runs per game over the past two weeks, and the matchup keeps them firmly in play again here. Tyler Mahle owns a 5.59 ERA this season and has struggled to consistently limit damage once innings start extending. This offense has too much depth and too many ways to score to ignore in a matchup like this. One of my favorite full-stack spots on the slate.

Minnesota Twins
This feels like one of the cleaner offense spots on the slate. Sean Burke has had trouble limiting traffic this season, and Minnesota’s lineup has enough power throughout to take advantage if they can force him into hitter’s counts early. The Twins can be volatile offensively, but this is the type of matchup where the upside plays very well in tournaments, especially if the White Sox bullpen gets involved early.

Texas Rangers
I like the upside here quite a bit, especially because the ceiling doesn’t end with the starter. Jason Alexander has a 7.30 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in limited work this season, and if Texas can get into the bullpen early, there’s even more upside given how badly Houston’s relief corps has struggled overall this year. Yes, they got no-hit last night, but that’s another reason to consider them tonight. This is the kind of spot where a solid start offensively can turn into a huge game once the middle innings arrive.
