The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | May 15

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Athletics
Yeah, they’ve been cold, but in tournaments and on a large slate, you want upside and they’ve got it. Tyler Mahle is not good (a 5.18 ERA and 1.49 WHIP) and the game is in a hitters’ park. Sign me up for going over the field here. Shea Langeliers is where I always start my A’s stacks; Nick Kurtz is heating up and Zack Gelof is cheap and hitting extremely consistently right now.

Arizona Diamondbacks
The always-tempting-and-usually-beneficial Coors Field is in play tonight and this weekend with Arizona coming to town. Kyle Freeland can’t stop giving up runs (his ERA is 6.00) and the Diamondbacks have managed a 1.045 OPS against him in 117 PA. Start with Ketel Marte, Nolan Arenado, and Corbin Carroll.

Chicago Cubs
This is a lovely spot to get back to the Cubs: they’re facing their cross-town rival White Sox (who have surprised many this season so far), and given their recent cold streak and the size of the slate, this could be an overlooked spot in tournaments, which could give you the leverage you want. Nico Hoerner has a great floor, and he and Pete Crow-Armstrong have had good success against Sean Burke, so I’d start there.

Houston Astros
Another offense that’s been cold, the Astros still have some pop, and at home against the rival Rangers, this is a spot that could pop off. Jack Leiter and his 4.89 ERA doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence, so I think Houston should warrant some exposure just for the upside hitters like Yordan Alvarez and Christian Walker have in this one.

Colorado Rockies
This has game stack written all over it: it’s got a total of 11.5 and both pitchers are just not good. We covered Freeland up above, and I think that Merrill Kelly and his 7.62 ERA on the season puts the Rockies’ offense squarely in play as well. Mickey Moniak and Ezequiel Tovar are where I’d start my Colorado stacks.
