The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | May 1

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Atlanta Braves
This will be the chalk spot of the night, and how can it not be? One of the best offenses in baseball going into Coors and facing a bad pitcher. What can go wrong? (Remember that it seems like one game always fizzles, but I’d be fine taking a chance on this one going off.) Jose Quintana has a 4.91 ERA through four starts and has made it through five innings just once. Matt Olson and Ozzie Albies have had solid success against him, and they plus Michael Harris II have been hitting well overall, so start your stacks with them.

Los Angeles Dodgers
Perhaps always in play, but they’ve got a good enough spot tonight to warrant consideration. The St. Louis offense is playing well and Emmet Sheehan on the mound for Los Angeles speaks to a possible offensively-tinged game tonight, and Matthew Liberatore can definitely give up the runs (four or more allowed in three of his five starts this season).

Kansas City Royals
I like the Royals in tournaments tonight. They’ve been playing very well (averaging just under seven runs a game over the last week), and even though Bryan Woo has been his usual solid-floor self, he did have a hiccup last time out facing another hot offense at the time (the Cardinals), so it’s possible he reverts and is stellar OR he could be at the beginning of a rough patch. Bobby Witt, Jr., Salvador Perez, and Carter Jensen are your building blocks.

Minnesota Twins
Yet again…how do you not stack against Patrick Corbin? He hasn’t been horrid like we’re used to, but we all know it’s coming, and Minnesota hits him well (a .991 OPS in 74 combined AB). Byron Buxton is hot, Josh Bell hits Corbin well, and

San Diego Padres
Interesting little game stack spot, perhaps? Six runs per game over their last week and facing Nolan Schultz who’s making just his fourth career start (and appearance), and if they get to him, the bullpen with the fifth-worst (5.34) group ERA awaits. There’s some upside here that could go overlooked, especially with Fernando Tatis struggling like he is; still, he’s due, and you can also mix in Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts, and some Gavin Sheets.
