The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | April 27

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Los Ángeles Dodgers
There aren’t a ton of sort of slam dunk spots on this Monday slate, but this is definitely one of them: the Dodgers’ offense keeps rolling and they get Chris Paddack, he of the 6.54 ERA and 1.54 WHIP statline. Normally you could consider leveraging off of them, but in this instance I’d go with them and look to get different elsewhere. Max Muncy is hitting the cover off the ball lately, so make sure you have him mixed in with the usual suspects.

New York Yankees
I think if you’re looking for a less chalky, high upside offense that’s not the Dodgers, the Yankees could be your choice tonight. Jack Leiter has been most ineffective this season and we know the New York bats can go off at any time. Aaron Judge, Ben Rice, and (as of late) Jazz Chisholm are where I’d start, and Jose Caballero is a nice, less-expensive piece who’s been producing as well.

San Diego Padres
I like the spot for the Padres tonight: they’re playing well offensively and are facing Matthew Boyd (5.79 ERA in three starts) who made his first start after an IL stint, so there’s the possibility he’s still a bit rusty. It’s a little bit of a risky spot, though: we always talk about a team in their first game out of Coors and the elevation of Mexico City (where they just finished a two-game series) is higher, so they could come out cold in this first one, but I think you can still have some shares in your MME mix. However, there are weather concerns, so you’ll want to pay attention there.

Seattle Mariners
I’m happy to have some shares of a high-upside offense facing a pitcher who’s only made one career appearance, and that’s what we have here with Seattle. Connor Prielipp looked decent (two earned runs in four innings) in his first career start (and he did strike out six), but still I like what the Mariners’ offense can do. Cal Raleigh looks like he’s heating up and Josh Naylor has been on a hot streak of his own; Dominic Canzone is a sneaky and inexpensive piece who has produced as well. Slight chance of inclement weather, however.

Los Angeles Angels
Willing to have some exposure to an offense that’s been producing well recently facing a young pitcher who’s been solid aside from one start. Anthony Kay gave up eight runs last time out, but he’d only given up five in his previous four, though he hit the five-inning mark just once, and the White Sox bullpen is atrocious, allowing close to six runs per game as a group. Mike Trout is Officially Back, so start with him; Zach Neto and Jo Adell have lovely upside as well.

FOUR MLB BvP Matchups
Nick Castellanos vs. Matthew Boyd: 3-8 with two 2B
Willson Contreras vs. Dylan Cease: 3-12 with a 2B, HR, three RBI, and two BB
Manny Machado vs. Matthew Boyd: 5-14 with two 2B and three RBI
Max Muncy vs. Chris Paddack: 4-15 with two 2B and two HR

THREE MLB Value Plays
Sam Antonacci ($3000 DK / $2700 FD): six hits (including a HR) and four RBI in his last 15 AB
Michael Busch ($3600 DK / $2600 FD): seven-game hitting streak (.994 OPS during); decent price on DK but too cheap on FD
Isiah Kiner-Falefa ($2000 DK / $2200 FD): 4-7 with a 2B vs. Cease; decent wraparound piece if you’re stacking against him
