NHL Building Blocks – April 14
Monday night brings us six games as we close in on the end of the regular season, and we may see the final playoff matchups set when all is said and done. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – April 14
The Goalie: Jake Oettinger
A get-right spot for Oettinger (36-16-4 / 2.48 .912) as the Stars have not looked good down the stretch, and tonight they are on the road against a Red Wings squad that has now missed the playoffs in nine straight seasons. Dallas is locked into a first-round matchup with Colorado, so they’re only looking for confidence as a team heading into next weekend.
The Center: Nick Suzuki
Leads the team in scoring and has taken the next step forward this season.
The Wing: Kevin Fiala
Six goals in his last five games, and this game should be very competitive and intense.
The Defenseman: Lane Hutson
The likely Calder winner in to date his biggest game as the Canadiens can clinch a playoff berth.
The Value: Elmer Soderblom
Wings like him, and they’ll give the younger players more ice time in these last couple of games.
The Stack: MON (Suzuki-Caufield-Laine-Hutson-Slafkovsky)
Want to be overweight on a team that can clinch a berth tonight, and they get possibly the best matchup on the slate as they host the Blackhawks.
