DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel – April 1

NHL Building Blocks – April 1

We open April as we lament the breaking news that Alex Ovechkin is retiring as he wants to let Gretzky’s record stand.  (April Fools!!!!) Ten games highlight the first day of April, and we’re less than three weeks from the end of the regular season.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – April 1
The Goalie
: Charlie Lindgren
Lindgren (16-12-3 / 2.65 / .900) is in a solid spot even on the road: Boston has lost eight games in a row and has all but given up, and the Caps are streaking toward the top spot in the East.

The Center: Robert Thomas
Two goals and 10 assists during a five-game point streak, and the Blues are the hottest team in the league right now with a matchup against a desperate-but-defensively-challenged Wings team.

The Wing: Alex Ovechkin
Ovie is five away from the record, and he faces a Bruins team that’s lost eight games in a row.

The Defenseman: Lane Hutson
Four assists away from the Canadiens’ rookie record of 51 (set by Chris Chelios), and helping get Montreal into the playoffs might all but lock up the Calder.

The Value: Jackson Lacombe
Two goals and four assists in his last five games, and the Ducks are showing some nice life offensively as of late.

The Stack: DET (Larkin-Debrincat-Raymond-Kane)
The Wings are in need of pretty much every point they can get, and as their offense goes through these four (you can mix in Kasper a bit as well), I don’t mind going with some shares here; the Blues are hot, so this could be an explosive game environment as well.
