NHL Building Blocks – March 6
Thursday night brings up nine games, and each has some interesting features. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 6
The Goalie: Connor Hellebuyck
Hellebuyck (36-8-3 / 2.01 / .926) should be a popular goalie on the slate facing a Flyers offense that is below average offensively (middle of the pack in goals and averaging the fifth fewest shots per game). He’s the clear frontrunner for the Vezina and could get some Hart consideration.
The Center: Wyatt Johnston
Seven goals and five assists during a seven-game point streak and continues to improve every game.
The Wing: Alex Debrincat
Five goals in his last five games (also a couple of helpers) and in a solid matchup at home.
The Defenseman: Zach Werenski
Could be the leader for the Norris at the moment; two goals last game and leads the team in scoring (66 points in 60 games) and shots (three and a half per contest).
The Value: Mackie Samoskevich
L2 and PP1 in Tkachuk’s absence, and this should be a nice game environment for scoring.
The Stack: COL (Mackinnon-Necas-Makar)
This will be the chalk stack of the slate facing the awful Sharks in the altitude. The scoring starts with these three; mix in Nichushkin, Lehkonen, and Drouin.
