NHL Building Blocks – March 27
Thursday brings us another 10 games as we get closer to playoff time, and many teams are still up in the air with their positioning. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 27
The Goalie: Casey DeSmith
DeSmith (12-6-1 / 2.39 / .916) gets a good matchup tonight even on the road as the Calgary offense has been woefully ineffective this season, scoring the fewest goals of any team in the league.
The Center: John Tavares
Five goals and four assists over his last four games and is a way to get a little different while still being part of a team in one of the best matchups tonight.
The Wing: Alex Ovechkin
Close to a must-play as the season winds down; he’s six goals away from the record and he’s going to want to get it before the end of the campaign. three goals and four assists in his last five and has a decent matchup tonight as well.
The Defenseman: Cale Makar
High ceiling as always (on pace for over 30 goals from the blue line) and has a great floor as well.
The Value: Matt Coronato
Four goals and two assists during a four-game point streak.
The Stack: STL (Holloway-Kyrou-Thomas)
The Blues are red-hot and may go overlooked a bit with some of the other higher-profile offenses (Toronto, Colorado, etc.) on the slate tonight. The first two have combined for 11 goals and 14 assists over their last seven games, and Thomas has a very solid floor.
