The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 23
The Goalie: Fredrik Andersen
Andersen (10-5-0 / 2.08 / .915 gets the best matchup on the slate tonight as the Canes go on the road to face the Ducks and their anemic (fourth fewest goals in the league) offense. Carolina’s defense is elite, allowing the fourth fewest goals on the fewest total and average shots per game in the league.
The Center: Sidney Crosby
It’s a tough matchup, but Crosby has shown no signs of slowing down or giving up, scoring six goals and adding four assists during a six-game point streak. He’s also on the cusp of becoming the first player in history to average a point per game in 20 straight seasons.
The Wing: Sam Reinhart
Great spot for Reinhart and his 33 goals (tied for sixth in the league) facing a Penguins team that allows a lot of them.
The Defenseman: Shayne Gostisbehere
Seven assists and a +10 rating over his past 10 games.
The Value: Nick Blankenburg
Playing L1/PP1 and killing penalties.
The Stack: TB (Kucherov-Point-Guentzel-Hagel-Cirelli)
There are teams and stacks in better spots, but on this smaller slate, taking a shot at the stack with perhaps the highest upside makes a little sense, especially considering their opponent (Vegas) is on the second half of a back-t0-back. Mix and match these five as the Bolts’ scoring goes through them.
