NHL Building Blocks – March 21
One game tonight to kick off the weekend. Are the obvious spots obvious? Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 21
The Goalie: Tristan Jarry
Jarry (12-9-4 / 3.13 / .895) has only allowed 12 goals in his last five starts (coinciding with coming back from the AHL) and had a four-game winning streak snapped last time out. The Pens are at home and they’re scrappy, and Columbus has been awful lately, scoring three goals in its last five games (all losses).
The Center: Sidney Crosby
Five goals and three assists in his last five games and is showing no signs of slowing down nor of giving up even though the Pens are way out of the playoff picture.
The Wing: Rickard Rakell
Two goals and four assists in his last five games and has developed nice chemistry with Crosby.
The Defenseman: Zach Werenski
If you’re going for floor and ceiling together, he’s where you start.
The Value: Mathieu Oliver
Sneakily has 16 goals on the season.
The Stack: PIT (Crosby-Rust-Rakell)
These three are L1/PP1 together and have scored 79 goals between them. Columbus is slumping at the worst time, losing seven of its last eight (including five straight), and they played last night. Pittsburgh isn’t giving up even though they’re out of the playoff picture.
