NHL Building Blocks – March 19
Little two-gamer tonight, so where do we lean into and how do we get different? Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 19
The Goalie: Filip Gustavsson
Going with the home goalie in the less-attractive matchup tonight, but Gus (26-15-4 / 2.57 / .915) has been solid all season and the Wild are currently in possession of one of the two wild card spots (by eight points as of this writing), and a win here in a gettable game would go a long way toward sewing up a postseason spot.
The Center: Nathan MacKinnon
League leader in points (103) and likely the leader for the Hart; very high floor and in a great environment as well.
The Wing: William Nylander
Two goals and six assists in his last five games and is now second in the league in goals with 38.
The Defenseman: Brandon Montour
Three goals and four assists in his last five games and is a decent pivot from the super-chalky Makar.
The Value: Brandon Carlo
Up on the top pairing (so he should see a lot of the Avs’ top line) and kills penalties as well.
The Stack: COL (MacKinnon-Necas-Makar-Lehkonen)
The better of the two game environments tonight, and I’m looking at the visitor as a possible/slight leverage option. Both offenses are high-upside, but pieces from the Avs’ side may be cheaper in many instances.
