NHL Building Blocks – March 1
The first day of March and we’ve got a great slate of eight games tonight. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 1
The Goalie: Linus Ullmark
Should be in a great spot tonight facing an awful Sharks offense. Ullmark (12-11-2 / 2.66 / .912) has had a solid first season in Ottawa, and they need every point they can get as they fight for a playoff spot.
The Center: Jack Hughes
Good spot for him as he’s always got a great floor and a high ceiling. 69 points (including 27 goals) in 60 games while averaging over four shots per contest.
The Wing: Mikko Rantanen
Finally went off last game for really the first time since he was traded; Oilers’ defense is solid but not elite, and this could be a sneaky spot.
The Defenseman: Jake Sanderson
Great spot for him tonight against the lowly Sharks; he’s had a very nice season and played well during the tournament. His play and the matchup should make him a popular choice.
The Value: Nils Hoglander
L1/PP1 for dirt cheap.
The Stack: OTT (Stutzle-Batherson-Tkachuk)
Tkachuk is back tonight, and this grouping has great upside given their ability and the matchup against a Sharks defense allowing the most goals in hockey. Mix in Giroux and Sanderson as secondary pieces, and consider Gaudette as a cheap power play piece.
