The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – February 5
The Goalie: Darcy Kuemper
Statistically, the Kings have one of the most solid defenses in the league, having allowed the fewest goals in the league as well as the second fewest shots per game. Kuemper (15-6-6 / 2.16 / .921) has been a big part of that defensive prowess, and tonight they are at home against a Canadiens team that played last night and that is middle of the pack offensively. Great spot for him tonight.
The Center: JT Miller
Two goals and two assists in the two games since he came to the Rangers and is looking like the 100-point scorer that he is.
The Wing: David Pastrnak
Continues to be one of the hottest players in the league right now with an 11-game point streak (10 goals and 14 assists). These two teams played the other night with Boston winning handily at home, so this should be another fun affair (this time at Madison Square Garden).
The Defenseman: Lane Hutson
Likely the leader for the Calder, he’s taken over as the Canadiens’ top defenseman. Third on the team in scoring with 39 points from the blue line in just 52 games.
The Value: Corey Perry
Up on L1 with McDavid and Draisaitl; also skates on PP2.
The Stack: NYR (Panarin-Miller-Zibanejad)
The Rangers were on the short end of their last meeting this past weekend in Boston, but now they’re at home and they should be looking for revenge. Miller has looked like the Miller of old since coming to the Big Apple, and Panarin looks re-energized. Mix in Lafreniere and Trocheck as secondary pieces.
