DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel – February 4

NHL Building Blocks – February 4

This is one of those slates where the problem is choice: 14 games to pick from with so many good spots.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – February 4
The Goalie
: Jake Oettinger
Should be a popular goalie on the slate as not only have the Stars been playing well, Oettinger (26-11-1 / 2.32 / .912) continues to backstop one of the league’s best defenses (the Stars have allowed just 129 goals through 52 games, the third fewest in hockey). Anaheim’s offense is the worst in the league as well.

The Center: Wyatt Johnston
Four goals and four assists in his last five games and has possibly the best matchup on the slate.

The Wing: David Pastrnak
The hottest player in hockey right now (10 goals and 13 assists during a 10-game point streak), and the Bruins are at home against a somewhat struggling Wild defense.

The Defenseman: Cale Makar
Likely the leader for the Norris, he’s got three goals and two helpers in his last five games and is in a great game environment tonight against the Canucks who are in the middle of some turmoil.

The Value: Mitchell Chaffee
Up on PP1 with the studs; facing an Ottawa team on the second half of a back-to-back.

The Stack: NJ (Hughes-Bratt)
So many good options tonight, but we’re going with the team facing the worst defense by goals allowed in the league.  New Jersey has notched 19 goals in their past five games and are trending up, and these two have combined for 37 goals on the season as well as for 13 points over the past five games.  Noesen and Meier (33 goals between them) are nice secondary pieces to mix in.
