DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel – February 3

NHL Building Blocks – February 3

Fun game tonight with two high-upside offenses.  Where do we start?  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – February 3
The Goalie
: Juuse Saros
The Preds are at home tonight and their offense has been much better lately, so in this single game, I’m leaning toward the home goalie.  Saros (11-21-6) has an awful record, but his 2.84 GAA and .902 save percentage are more indicative of the team’s early-season struggles, and he’s got the ability to steal a game at any point.  Ottawa shoots a good amount (top 10 in shots per game), but they rank in the bottom 10 in goals, so the ceiling is here (and the DK bonus could be in play as well).

The Center: Tim Stuetzle
Two goals and five assists in his last five games, and his playmaking is what makes the Senator offense go.

The Wing: Filip Forsberg
Might have the best floor of any forward tonight as he has been the volume shooter and scorer we’re used to seeing him as.  Cooled off over the past three games, but before that he had goals in seven straight, and on the season he’s averaging close to four shots per game.

The Defenseman: Jake Sanderson
Overlooked as a defenseman, Sanderson has scored twice and added six helpers during his four-game point streak.  Josi may be the more popular blueliner tonight, but in a single game, Sanderson comes into this one as a very viable option and provides some nice leverage.

The Value: Shane Pinto
Plays all three situations; two goals and three assists during a four-game point streak.

The Stack: OTT (Stuetzle-Giroux-Sanderson)
In a single-gamer, mixing some pieces makes some sense, and these three not only produce well, they also have nice correlation through all three situations, meaning that if scoring is happening, at least one of them is likely part of it.
