NHL Building Blocks – February 25
We’ve got a massive 12-gamer tonight. So many options, so let’s see if we can figure out where to go and where to get different. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – February 25
The Goalie: Charlie Lindgren
Lindgren (13-9-3 / 2.64 / .901) should be popular tonight as the Caps have a +68 goal differential, 21 more than the next closest, and they are tied for second fewest goals allowed on the season. Calgary’s offense has also scored fewer goals than any team not named the Ducks.
The Center: Tage Thompson
28 goals and 57 points in 49 games; Buffalo has maybe the best matchup tonight, and he has a great ceiling.
The Wing: Alex Ovechkin
Hat trick last game and is now 13 goals from breaking Gretzky’s record; don’t mind going right back to him here as the Caps have shown they’re going to give him all the opportunities (he had nine shots last game).
The Defenseman: Roman Josi
He’ll be needed all over as the Preds get a tough Panthers team; he’s got just about the best floor of anyone in the league (38 points in 52 games while averaging three shots and two blocks per contest).
The Value: Kevin Hayes
Up on PP1 and in a good matchup.
The Stack: DET (Larkin-Raymond-Debrincat-Kane)
Mix and match these four as not only does Detroit’s offense go through these four, they’ve been red hot (combining for 11 goals and 14 helpers over their last five games). They’ll want a little revenge against the Wild, who they lost a two-goal third-period lead a couple of games ago.
