NHL Building Blocks – February 22
Regular season action is back! We had a great Four Nations tournament, and now we get back to the grind and the playoff push. Most players have been off for a week and a half, so there will be some rust as they get back into the swing of things. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – February 22
The Goalie: Jeremy Swayman
Gets a great matchup against possibly the worst team in the league. Hasn’t had the best season (18-18-4 / 2.98 / .898), but the Bruins are a veteran team and the spot is great.
The Center: Mark Scheifele
Leads the team in goals with 31 and is rested; the Blues’ defense isn’t anything intimidating.
The Wing: David Pastrnak
28 goals and 68 points in 57 games while averaging four shots a game; should be able to do what he wants against a bad Anaheim team.
The Defenseman: Lane Huston
Might be the leader for the Calder.
The Value: Pius Suter
Seeing some more time with Miller gone; plays all three situations.
The Stack: CBJ (Fantilli-Marchenko-Voronkov)
Not as high-profile as some of the other groupings on the slate, but they’re young, fast, and in a great matchup as the Blackhawks just can’t play defense.
