DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel – January 9

NHL Building Blocks – January 9

Ten games tonight to prep us for the weekend.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – January 9
The Goalie
: Adin Hill
The Golden Knights get a good matchup tonight at home facing the Islanders who have scored the fourth fewest goals in the league.  Vegas has won 13 of their last 15 games and are locked in; Hill (17-6-2 / 2.58 / .904) is a big reason why they’ve been so dominant lately (as well as on the season as they lead the Pacific).  Good spot for him tonight.

The Center: Leon Draisaitl
The league’s leading goal scorer (29) faces a Penguins defense that’s allowed more goals than any other team in the league.

The Wing: Jason Robertson
Robertson might finally be getting things going this season, scoring three times and adding six assists over his past five games.  Dallas gets a decent matchup with Philly tonight as well, so I don’t mind looking here at a streaking player who will be a bit lower owned.

The Defenseman: Zach Werenski
Solidly in the conversation for the Norris; goal and six helpers in his last four games and leads the team in scoring (46 points in 41 games), not to mention averaging four shots per contest.

The Value: Brett Howden
More of a value on DK, but he’s got 15 goals (tied for the team lead) and Vegas is in a good spot.

The Stack: NJ (Hughes-Hischier-Bratt)
The Devils are playing well and their cross-river rivals are close to chalking this season up and moving on, so on a slate filled with good offenses, I like going here a bit as New Jersey will want to keep the Rangers down if they can.  Mix in Noesen and Meier as secondary pieces.
