DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel – January 29

NHL Building Blocks – January 29

Five games for our mid-week slate.  Some nice spots, but is there any way to get different (or should we)?  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – January 29
The Goalie
: Joseph Woll
Woll (17-9-0 / 2.60 / .907) has cooled off a bit since his hot start, but he’s been solid all season; the Wild are without Kaprizov for the next few weeks, which decreases their upside, but they’ve still got some nice offensive players.  Leafs are at home for this one as well and their defense is solid.

The Center: Auston Matthews
It’s a decent matchup, but he always has a great floor and huge upside; he’s got 2o goals in just 35 games and he averages four shots per game.

The Wing: Filip Forsberg
As on fire as he’s been all season, registering nine goals and adding 10 assists during a nine-game point streak.  The Canucks are solid, but they’re on the brink of blowing up the whole thing, so there could be some pressure going on.

The Defenseman: Quinn Hughes
Could easily go with the other stud defenseman in this game, but I like his ceiling more as he’s been the only Canuck to be doing anything at all recently.  Four goals and four assists in his last five games.

The Value: Danton Heinen
L2 with Boeser and Miller; he also kills penalties.

The Stack: NSH (Forsberg-Marchessault-Stamkos)
Nashville has possibly finally figured things out offensively (they’ve certainly had the talent all season), and tonight they host a Canucks team that’s underachieved all season.  Mix and match these three (and add in Josi to that mix as a nice secondary piece).
