NHL Building Blocks – January 21
Tuesday brings eight games to us this evening. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – January 21
The Goalie: Sergei Bobrovsky
Should be the chalk goalie tonight as the Panthers are on the road facing the Ducks and their league-worst offense. Bob (18-11-2 / 2.86 / .896) hasn’t quite had the season he’d hoped, but he’s been solid enough and their opponent is just not good.
The Center: Alexander Barkov
Always a solid floor (he plays all three situations) with a decent ceiling (he averages over a point per game), Panthers face the Ducks who are arguably the worst team in the league (especially defensively).
The Wing: Filip Forsberg
Haven’t seen many Predators in this article this season, and for good reason: they’ve been bad. Forsberg is their offensive leader, and he’s been playing like it lately, registering six goals (all within the last five games) and adding six assists during his seven-game point streak, and he’s always a volume shooter as well. Preds are at home against the lowly Sharks.
The Defenseman: Lane Hutson
Becoming the frontrunner for the Calder in many circles, Hutson has stepped up big time in his rookie season. Goal and 11 helpers during his eight-game point streak.
The Value: Marco Kasper
Three goals and two assists in his last five games; skates on L1 with Larkin and Raymond in a decent matchup.
The Stack: NSH (Forsberg-Stamkos-Marchessault)
Are the Preds finally figuring out their offense after splurging in the offseason? March has an eight-game point streak, Forsberg’s got a seven-gamer of his own, and Stamkos has four goals in his last five games. The Sharks’ defense isn’t good at all, and Nashville has been underachieving all season, so we might get them at lower ownership due to their track record.
