DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel – January 14

NHL Building Blocks – January 14

A 12-game Tuesday this week.  Where do we start?  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – January 14
The Goalie
: Logan Thompson
Thompson (18-2-3 / 2.32 / .919) has quietly been elite this season, his first in DC, and tonight he gets one of the best matchups on the slate as the Ducks score fewer than any team in the league.  Should be popular in any format.

The Center: Dylan Larkin
Four goals and three assists in his last five games for the captain of the league’s hottest team.  Sharks allow more goals than any team but one this season.

The Wing: Alex Ovechkin
The spot makes too much sense for Ovie here: the Ducks allow more goals than any team in the league.  Prime spot to try and close the gap between him and Gretzky.

The Defenseman: Quinn Hughes
One of the best game matchups, Vancouver goes on the road against the best team in the league.  Hughes leads the team with 47 points through 42 team games (39 individual), 17 more than the second-highest on the team.  He’ll be needed all over.

The Value: Steven Lorentz
On L1 with Matthews/Marner; also kills penalties.

The Stack: DET (Larkin-Debrincat-Raymond-Kane)
Detroit has won seven games in a row, and tonight they are at home against a Sharks team that’s allowed more goals than all but one team this season.  This quartet is responsible for 64 of the Wings’ 120 goals on the season; mix and match as you like.
