NHL Building Blocks – January 12
We wrap up the weekend with four solid games today. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – January 12
The Goalie: Pyotr Kochetkov
Should be the chalk of the slate as the Ducks score fewer goals than any team in the league, and Carolina’s defense is as always elite (allowing the eighth fewest goals on the second fewest shots per game). Anaheim also is on the second half of a back-t0-back.
The Center: Marco Rossi
Little off the beaten path, but with the injuries to some of their forwards, Rossi has stepped up with eight points (three goals) in his last five games.
The Wing: Nikita Kucherov
Might have the highest ceiling on the slate, and the Penguins’ defense isn’t terribly intimidating. Fifth in the league in points with 58.
The Defenseman: Thomas Harley
Six points (two goals) in his last five games and will be needed against an Ottawa offense that can shoot the puck.
The Value: Jordan Staal
Five goals and three assists in his last five games.
The Stack: TB (Kucherov-Point-Guentzel)
Should be a fairly popular stack as Pittsburgh has given up more goals than any team in the league. 63 goals between this trio; you can mix and match while adding in Hagel (19 goals) and Cirelli (16) as secondary pieces.
