DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel – December 9

NHL Building Blocks – December 9

Three games tonight to start off the week, and there are a few interesting spots that I think we can attack.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – December 9
The Goalie
: Sam Montembault
Don’t look now, but Monty (8-11-2 / 2.89 / .905) is heating up, allowing just nine goals over his last four starts (one a shutout), and he gets a sub-par Ducks offense tonight at home.  Solid on this three-gamer.

The Center: Tage Thompson
14 goals in just 22 games and is looking like he’s fully recovered from his early-season injury.  Sabres get a bad Red Wings defense tonight.

The Wing: Cole Caufield
Four goals in his last five games and is third in the league with 17 goals; love the upside against a bad Ducks defense.

The Defenseman: Moritz Seider
Might have the best floor/ceiling combo of any defenseman on the slate; 13 points in 27 games (nearly 25 minutes per contest) and also has 51 shots and 59 blocks.

The Value: Alex Newhook
Cheap piece of L1 with Caufield/Suzuki and in a good matchup.

The Stack: NYR (Panarin-Trocheck-Lafreniere)
This trio might have the highest upside of any group on the slate even though the Rangers haven’t been playing well, which might actually give a little leverage.  Still, Chicago’s defense is just not good, so they’ll be a tad popular.  Mix in Kreider and Zibanejad as secondary/power play pieces.
