Everyone has come off their holiday break as of tonight, so we’ve officially begun the next stretch of the season. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – December 29
The Goalie: Jake Oettinger
One of the best matchups on the slate, Oettinger (16-9-1 / 2.44 / .908) and the Stars go on the road to visit the Blackhawks, who have scored the third fewest goals in the league this season; Dallas, on the other hand, has given up the fewest (85 in 33 games) of any team.
The Center: Brayden Point
The Bolts played last night, but Point continues to be elite, scoring yesterday and raising his season goal total to 23 in just 29 games. Montreal is not good defensively at all, either.
The Wing: Kirill Kaprizov
If he plays, Kap is in a great spot tonight as the Wild host the Senators who are on the second half of a back-t0-back and who are missing their top two goalies. He’s second in the league in goals (23) and fifth in points (50).
The Defenseman: Rasmus Andersson
He plays all three situations and will be needed against a strong Vegas offense. 15 points and averages two shots and three blocks per game while leading the team in ice time with over 24 minutes a game.
The Value: Noah Cates
Five goals and a helper in his last five games.
The Stack: MIN (Boldy-Rossi-Zuccarello)
Great spot for the Wild tonight against the Senators (who played yesterday) and their fourth-string goalie. This trio is L1/PP1 together and has 32 goals together, and if Kaprizov plays, I like them even more.
