The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – December 18
The Goalie: Eric Comrie
Sure, he’s the Jets’ backup goalie, and sure, Winnipeg played last night, but he’s got the easiest matchup on the slate against the Ducks who can’t do anything offensively at all (they’ve scored 70 total goals in 29 games this season).
The Center: JT Miller
Three helpers in the three games since he’s been back from injury, and he’s going to be a little cheaper than some of the other studs on the slate while being in one of the better matchups.
The Wing: Kirill Kaprizov
In what’s sure to be an entertaining matchup, Kap has been ridiculously outstanding this season, ranking second in goals (22) and tied for second in points (47); Florida’s defense has been bad this season, so he should be able to get his chances.
The Defenseman: Quinn Hughes
Highest-upside defenseman on the slate and continues to be in the running for his second straight Norris.
The Value: Anton Lundell
Plays all three situations and has a low floor but decent ceiling.
The Stack: FLA (Tkachuk-Reinhart-Bennett)
Minnesota is without Gustavsson for awhile, which ups the ceiling for the Panthers in this one, and this trio has combined for 44 goals. They are split well throughout all three phases, which gets you a lot of exposure. Mix in Barkov and Verhaeghe as secondary pieces.
