DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel – December 13

NHL Building Blocks – December 13

Just one game on this Friday evening.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – December 13
The Goalie
: Pyotr Kochetkov
The home goalie and the backstop for the better team, he’s been very good (12-4-0 / 2.64 / .894) all season as he continues to not only fill in for Fredrik Andersen but also make his case for a starter’s spot.  Ottawa has some firepower and can shoot the puck, but Carolina’s defense is very good.

The Center: Sebastian Aho
Consistently underrated and overlooked as a star, Aho plays minutes in all three situations while averaging over a point per game.

The Wing: Brady Tkachuk
Batherson had a hat trick the other night, which leads me to believe that his ownership might be a little inflated, and on the other side of the puck Necas is second in the league in scoring.  I want to go with the volume play here as Tkachuk has taken the most shots in the league (120 in just 28 games) while also scoring 14 goals and adding 17 helpers.

The Defenseman: Shayne Gostisbehere
Gosti is enjoying his first season in Carolina, ranking third on the team in scoring with 25 points in just 28 games.  He’s got a goal and five helpers in his last five games.

The Value: Eric Robinson
If you’re dumpster-diving, he’s got two goals in his last five games and skates even strength with Necas.

The Stack: CAR2 (Necas-Kotkaniemi-Robinson)
Most will gravitate toward the Canes’ top line (and for good reason), but this trio hasn’t been bad at all, notching 26 goals between them, led of course by the league’s second-leading scorer; the Senators’ defensive focus should land more on L1 for Carolina, so there could be a solid bit of leverage here.  Mix in shares of Aho and Svechnikov as secondary pieces.
