DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel – December 12

NHL Building Blocks – December 12

Nearly every team is in action tonight on this 14-game slate.  Tons of good matchups and offenses, so let’s see if we can figure out where to go heavy and where to maybe get a little different.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – December 12
The Goalie
: Joseph Woll
Woll (7-3-0 / 2.21 / .919) is a big reason why the Leafs’ defense this season has become as elite as its offense.  Toronto is at home facing a Ducks team on the second half of a road back-to-back and that has scored just 64 goals in 27 games this season.

The Center: Auston Matthews
Picked up right where he left off before his injury, grabbing the OT winner last game and notching four tallies in his last five (bringing his total to nine in just 19 games this season) while taking 21 shots in those contests.  Leafs are at home against a bad Ducks team.

The Wing: Kirill Kaprizov
League’s second-leading scorer (43 points in 27 games, including 18 goals) for the league’s best team in a up-tempo game environment at home against a high-upside Oilers offense.

The Defenseman: Lane Hutson
Maybe an unorthodox choice here, but the Canadiens are high on him and for good reason, nabbing an assist in each of his last seven games and getting a good matchup at home against a bad Penguins team.

The Value: Max Pacioretty
Too cheap for someone with his talent playing alongside Matthews and Marner.

The Stack: MON (Caufield-Suzuki-Laine)
The Canadiens have been energized with Laine’s return from injury; Caufield and Suzuki have 27 of Montreal’s 77 goals on the season, and Laine has three in his first four games.  Pittsburgh’s defense isn’t that good, so this could be a lovely lower-owned stack.  Mix in Matheson, Slafkovsky, and Dach as secondary pieces.
