NHL Building Blocks – December 11
Two games on the slate tonight with some obvious spots to focus on, but are those the spots that make the most sense or can we find some good leverage somewhere? Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – December 11
The Goalie: Linus Ullmark
Ullmark (7-7-2 / 2.81 / .898) is having a solid first season in Ottawa. The Senators are at home tonight against a bad Ducks offense that has scored just 63 goals in 28 games.
The Center: Tage Thompson
15 goals in just 23 games and is one of the most underrated stars in the league. Good spot to get some exposure to him as he and the Sabres host a Rangers team that is a mess all over.
The Wing: Brady Tkachuk
Tkachuk continues to have a solid floor and great ceiling as through 27 games he has taken the second most shots ( ) in the league while scoring 13 goals and adding 16 helpers. He should have every opportunity tonight against a bad Ducks defense.
The Defenseman: Rasmus Dahlin
Dahlin historically has a solid floor, and he’ll be needed tonight in both ends against a high-upside Rangers team that’s struggling and desperate for any kind of success. 19 points in 25 games with 74 shots on goal and 26 blocks as well.
The Value: Jason Zucker
Playing very well lately with two goals last game and points in four straight.
The Stack: OTT (Tkachuk-Stutzle-Batherson)
The Senators take the third most shots per game in the league and the Ducks allow the third most shots per game. Recipe for volume here, and these three have accounted for 32 goals while all averaging over a point per game. Norris (13 goals and on PP1) and Gaudette (12 goals) are solid secondary pieces.
