NHL Building Blocks – November 17
Three games wrap up the week here. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – November 17
The Goalie: Igor Shesterkin
The Rangers have made the three-time zone trek to the Pacific Northwest, but they still have the best matchup on the slate against a Kraken team that is not scary offensively. Shesty (7-4-1 / 2.78 / .914) is still doing Shesty things, and I don’t mind him in any format tonight, especially with the elite Ranger offense in front of him.
The Center: Jack Eichel
Two goals and nine assists during his five-game point streak, and he’s third in the league in scoring with 27 points.
The Wing: Alex Ovechkin
Continue to consider him as long as he’s playing like he has been (10 goals in 16 games to go along with 10 helpers, and he averages over three and a half shots per). Vegas is stout defensively, but I want exposure to him.
The Defenseman: Roman Josi
Best floor of any defenseman in the league (and possibly any player) as he averages nearly six SOGBS per game to go along with 12 points (11 helpers) in 25 and a half minutes a night. Will be needed in both ends against the Canucks (who are on the second half of a back-to-back).
The Value: Jonathan Lekkerimaki
Continues to see extra time with Boeser out, and the Canucks are high on him.
The Stack: NYR (Panarin-Zibanejad-Lafreniere)
This trio (all L1) has the best matchup on this small slate (and likely the highest ceiling); 19 goals between them. Mix in Kreider (eight goals) and Trocheck (four goals) to get some additional exposure to the power play (and that duo is L2 together as well).
