NHL Building Blocks – November 16
We’ve got a solid 10 games on the slate for this Saturday evening. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – November 16
The Goalie: David Rittich
Solid spot for Rittich (5-4-0 / 2.71 / .887) at home facing a Wings team on a back-to-back; Detroit also has scored the second fewest goals in the league and averages the second fewest shots per game (under 26) while the Kings are allowing just 25 and a half shots on their own.
The Center: Aleksander Barkov
Tough matchup, but he’s been playing so well lately (two goals and 11 assists in his last seven games with at least a point in each). He also sees time in all three situations, and the Panthers are at home facing the league-best Jets.
The Wing: Martin Necas
22 points (including eight goals) during his 11-game point streak and is quickly becoming a must-play in all formats. Ottawa’s defense is fine but not spectacular and the Canes are at home.
The Defenseman: Quinn Hughes
Team leader in points with 16 while skating 25 minutes a game, and he and the Canucks get one of the best matchups on the slate as they host the Blackhawks.
The Value: Jonathan Lekkerimaki
A goal on five shots through his first two games; skating L1/PP2 and seeing extra minutes with Boeser out.
The Stack: VAN (Miller-Pettersson-Hughes-Garland)
Great spot for the Canucks at home against the lowly Blackhawks, and this quartet is a nice mix of even strength and power play exposure. Add in Lekkerimaki and Debrusk as nicely affordable secondary pieces.
