NHL Building Blocks – November 15
Five-game Friday! A couple of high-octane offenses highlight the slate, but are those the spots to attack? Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – November 15
The Goalie: Ville Husso
At first glance, Husso (0-2-0 / 4.94 / .811) doesn’t make a ton of sense, but the Wings aren’t the worst defensively, and this is more an indictment on the Ducks’ inability to score (just 33 goals through 15 games) or shoot (averaging under 28 shots per game).
The Center: Nathan Mackinnon
The league’s leading scorer (33 points, five more than second place) is always in play, and even though Washington is decent defensively, his floor is solid simply because he shoots a ton, and his ceiling is the highest on the slate.
The Wing: Alex Ovechkin
10 goals in 15 games and facing an Avs team allowing the third-most goals in the league; he’ll be popular regardless of matchup.
The Defenseman: Cale Makar
He’s expensive, but he’s worth it as his ceiling is ridiculous (he’s tied for fifth in the league in scoring) and Washington (the Avs’ opponent tonight) is no joke offensively.
The Value: Nicolas Roy
Skating on L2 and also up on PP1 filling in for Stone.
The Stack: DET (Larkin-Debrincat-Kane)
This trio has a great matchup and may be lower owned compared to other of the more elite stacks. 18 of the team’s 37 goals have come from this trio, and Anaheim’s defense is just not that good. Mix in Raymond and Seider for secondary correlation.
