DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel – October 17

NHL Building Blocks – October 17

Thursday night with 11 games on the slate with some stars off to a hot start. Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – October 17
The Goalie:
Sam Montembault
Both Montembault and the Canadiens are off to a really nice start so far.  He’s stopped 97 of the 103 shots he’s faced, and while last game was a hiccup (five goals given up), he’s been solid overall, and he is at home against a Kings team on the second half of a back-to-back.

The Center: Connor Bedard
Going with Bedard here as he gets a good matchup, is producing (goal and four assists on 14 shots through four games); he’s got a solid floor and will be lower owned compared to some of the other studs on the slate.

The Wing: Sam Reinhart
Looks like he’s picking up right where he left off last season, scoring four times and adding four helpers through the champs’ first five games, and they get another good matchup against a Canucks team that can’t play defense this season.

The Defenseman: Roman Josi
Always one of the top floor players in all of hockey.  Three points, 15 shots, and six blocks in three games and has a great matchup in both ends tonight.

The Value: Cole Sillinger
He sees time in all three situations (including PP1 and PK1) and gets another solid matchup at home against the Sabres on the second half of a road back-to-back (and there will still be some overflow from the Gaudreau emotions last game).

The Stack: NSH1 (Forsberg-Stamkos-Marchessault-O’Reilly-Josi)
May be difficult to stack even four of them together, so mix and match any of this quintet as they all have L1 and L2 correlation.  Keep attacking the Oilers as they haven’t shown anything at all defensively this season.
