Broncos D/ST vs Las Vegas Raiders
Available in 95% of ESPN Leagues
This Broncos unit is averaging 11.25 fantasy points per game in 2024, and it’s easy to see why they’ve been successful. They have the 2nd most sacks in the NFL (16) and are tied for the 9th most takeaways with 5.
The Raiders, on the other hand, have struggled offensively this season. They currently average 5 yards per play (20th best), 19.5 points per game (18th best), and 288.8 yards per game (25th best). Additionally, they are tied for the 6th most turnovers with 6. To top it all off, Las Vegas has allowed 14 sacks this season, which is the 5th most in the NFL.
Given these trends, the Broncos’ defense is in a strong position to capitalize on the Raiders’ offensive weaknesses.
Patriots D/ST vs Miami Dolphins
Available in 98% of ESPN Leagues
This game plays right into New England’s strengths: controlling the clock, running the ball, and playing great defense. The Dolphins will likely continue to try and force their will with their running game, but New England has been effective at limiting opponents’ rush attack. New England has held opponents to 4.0 yards per carry (8th best) and 99.3 rushing yards per game (9th best).
The Patriots D/ST has not been opportunistic since Week 1, when they secured two fumble recoveries. Since then, they’ve only managed one takeaway. While they’ve consistently pressured the quarterback, they still rank middle of the pack in sacks.
The Dolphins’ offense is in the doghouse without their starting quarterback. Their offense was ugly on Monday Night Football, which was preceded by a poor performance in Week 4 against the Seahawks’ defense—who was torched on Monday Night Football by the Lions. New England is a great streaming option in Week 5.
Bears D/ST vs Carolina Panthers
Available in 63% of ESPN Leagues
The Bears have been solid for fantasy managers in 2024. They’ve scored at least 5 fantasy points each week, including a huge 26-point performance in Week 1. Chicago is also tied for the 3rd most takeaways and ranks 13th in sacks.
While the Panthers have been on a hot streak, they have yet to face a defense as solid as Chicago’s. The Bears are holding opponents to 18.8 points per game (10th best) and excel at getting off the field on third down.
In addition to being a strong option in Week 5, the Bears also offer great value in Week 6 when they face the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars.
