Defenses to Stream – Week 2 Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the defenses to stream this week. The defenses to stream listed below are normally found in at least 50-percent of leagues (prior to waivers).

Follow Gthom on the cesspool they call X, or Twitter, or whatever it’s called @GarettThomas.

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Kenny Moore II (23) works to bring down Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams (32) on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati.

Indianapolis D/ST @ Green Bay Packers

Available in 98% of Sleeper Leagues

Not much analysis is needed here. The Colts are the top streaming defense this week due to Green Bay losing its starting quarterback and having to rely on a backup.
Malik Willis is expected to start, and if so, there’s a good chance the Colts’ defense could see lots of points.

Anthony Gould (IND), the return man for Indianapolis, was itching to break loose against Houston. Gould averaged 27.25 yards per return on his four kickoffs, which ranks third-best in the NFL after one week under the new kickoff rules.

Seahawks D/ST @ New England Patriots

Available in 57% of Sleeper Leagues

In Week 1, the Seahawks played as expected against a rookie making his first NFL start on the road. The ‘Hawks defense finished with two sacks, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery, totaling 16 fantasy points.

In Week 2, they will face the Patriots, who are likely to focus on running the ball, controlling the clock, and playing strong defense. The game also has a low total of 38 points set by oddsmakers, indicating few scoring opportunities.

The Patriots do not pose a significant threat offensively. If turnovers occur, points could quickly add up for Seattle D/ST. Even if New England wins, it’s hard to imagine them scoring a lot of points. This makes Seattle D/ST a low-risk, high-reward streaming candidate.

Texans D/ST vs Chicago Bears

Available in 98% of Sleeper Leagues

After a rough Week 1, the Texans will host the Chicago Bears in what will be Caleb Williams’ (QB, CHI) first road start in the NFL. One thing to remember is that rookies often struggle in their first NFL road start. Williams failed to deliver any offense in Week 1, and we can assume that trend will continue against a tougher opponent on the road.

The Texans were a solid defensive unit last season as well. In the second half of 2023, they finished as the 10th highest-scoring defense, averaging 8.7 fantasy points per game. Moreover, in their last four games of 2023, Houston averaged 11.3 fantasy points per game, the second most in the league.

While the Texans hosted a track meet in their previous game, Week 2 should present a much better opportunity to score fantasy points.
