14 Most Valuable Best Ball Plays

NHL best ball is here! I know it’s football time, but NHL needs love too! There are different builds and strategies for NHL best ball much like there is for NFL. Come ask me questions in the DFS Army discord.

Leon Draisaitl (7.6 ADP) – Contract year, and always can be penciled in for a ton of goals and over 100 points. Very good value at around pick 8 of the draft. If you get the 7th or 8th pick of the draft, Draisaitl is a great option to fill that center position and move on.

Mitchell Marner (22.4 ADP) – A great player in a contract year. Super consistent as a point producer as well.

Lucas Raymond (78.6 ADP) – Raymond has a ton of upside on the first line and top powerplay unit for Detroit. He has gotten better and better every season in the NHL, and I expect him to continue climbing.

Jacob Markstrom (52.1 ADP) – The Devils have a great defensive core, and I have high expectations of Markstrom and the Devils this year. There is no competition for Markstrom’s net. He is the starter.

Dustin Wolf (128.9 ADP) – A young goalie that is getting his chance as a rookie. A really late goalie to snag with high upside. He should either be the starter or the Flames’ 1A goalie.

Connor Bedard (29.2 ADP) – Big upside, period. He put up 61 points in 68 games as a rookie, with zero help around him. He could be a 100 point guy this year with the changes Chicago has made up and down their roster.

Brayden Point (42.8 ADP) – Unreal value at this pick in the draft. Point has averaged 50 goals and around 95 points the last 2 years, plays with Kucherov, and is in his prime at 28 years old.

Tim Stutzle (64.7 ADP) – Great value in this range. He is a mid-tier top center on your best ball team, and an elite number 2 that may end up in your flex most weeks. He piles up points, and hits more than you would think.

Martin Necas (94.4 ADP) – With so many forwards gone off of the Canes roster, Necas stands out as an undervalued player. He could be on the top line with Aho, and almost certainly will be on the top powerplay unit. Necas has so much skill, and loves to shoot.

Johnny Gaudreau (146.4 ADP) – Just as no nonsense and as steady as they come. He also is one of those guys that you can pencil in to every game. So, if you took some risky wingers with high upside but a low floor or an injury history; then Gaudreau may be a smart pickup.

Jake Sanderson (134.7 ADP) – A high upside defenseman late in the draft. He may not have as high of a floor as some of these other guys, but his talent and ceiling is off the charts as the Senators top young defenseman.

Brock Faber  (108.1 ADP) – A great secondary option on defense in the middle of the draft. He plays a ton, is the top powerplay defenseman, and as a young player, will only get better.

Patrik Laine (151.3 ADP) – He has always had a high ceiling, but has not achieved it for years. A 40 goal scorer is hard to come by this late in the draft, and the upside is there with Laine. Montreal is a very offensively gifted team, and Laine will be lining up one-timers on the powerplay opposite of Cole Caufield.

Trevor Zegras (165.1 ADP) – A high upside pick with outstanding skill, that we can get in the last couple rounds of the draft. He should be on the Ducks top powerplay unit, but also, he could get traded to a better team than Anaheim where he could thrive.
