NHL Building Blocks – April 10

NHL Building Blocks – April 10

Three games on this mid-week slate, with most teams having just four or five games left to go.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – April 10
The Goalie:
 Casey Desmith ($8300 DK / $8400 FD)
Nice matchup at home for the Canucks and Desmith (11-9-6 / 2.96 /.891) facing a Coyotes team that is average offensively.  Looking at the situation here, Vancouver has an outside shot at the top spot in the West and will basically need to win out to have a chance at it; they could go a long way with a win tonight.  Shots are hard to come by playing this defense as well, so I don’t mind some shares here at all.

The Center:  Connor McDavid ($9800 DK/ $10200 FD)
Third in the league in scoring and has four goals and four assists in his last five games; he’s been more aggressive as well, registering 30 shots in these five.

The Wing:  Clayton Keller ($7300 DK/ $8500 FD)
Three goals and seven assists in L5 and might be looking to play spoiler to the Canucks’ seeding.  One of the only offensive bright spots in the desert.

The Defenseman:  Quinn Hughes ($5900 DK / $7800 FD)
Four goals and three assists in his last five games; making a run at the Norris as well with 88 points in 78 games.

The Value:  Ivan Barbashev ($3700 DK / $4700 FD)
Two goals and two assists in his last five and has really found a home on the champs’ top line.  Also skates on PP1.

The Stack:  EDM1 (McDavid-Draisaitl-Hyman)
Highest upside on the slate tonight and playing for a top-four spot in the West (and home ice in the first round).  3.58 goals per game (fourth best in the league) and a 26.6% power play (third best) and facing a Vegas team that while desperate, hasn’t been lighting the world on fire defensively, giving up 14 goals in their past three games (including seven to the lowly Coyotes).  These three are on L1/PP1 together; mix in RNH and Bouchard for power play exposure.

The Builder:  none
