NBA DFS Basketball PrizePicks Strategy Player Picks for 10/19/2022

Similar to NBA DFS, there are going to be player lines that stand out on every slate. One big difference is that you are betting against the house and not other users. Therefore, pick the most favorable over/unders to build the best entry.

When injury news comes out, the lines surrounding that player will remain the same for a few minutes. The best picks are the ones that come from that player’s game as these lines are likely to be too low or too high depending on which way the news breaks. These are removed quickly so it is important to stay on top of the news to get the best value picks.

Hello DFS Army! I am William and am glad to be back for another NBA season. Feel free to call me Will and you can find me @wlin018 on Twitter. These articles are written many hours before lock so the lines will change. The lines will be adjusted as people place bets or the player could be removed from the board. To find the most up-to-date player lines with the best edge, check out our NBA Prizepicks Tool. This tool is included as part of our VIP subscription which you can get your first month for free by signing up and depositing on PrizePicks! There is even another bonus which you will find at the end of this article…

PrizePicks NBA Plays for Tonight…

Fred VanVleet Over 2.5 3s

TOR vs CLE

The Cavaliers made one of the biggest trades this offseason acquiring All-Star guard Donovan Mitchel from Utah. This will make them a better all-around team, but their guard defense now looks atrocious. Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell are an extremely talented offensive guard duo. Defensively, they are going to allow some big games to opposing guards. Cleveland will rely on their defensive bigs in Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen to clean up the mistakes. The frontcourt duo should limit Pascal Siakam. This sets up well for FVV to attack from the perimeter. There have been some rumors about Nick Nurse scaling back VanVleet’s minutes. However, Nurse cannot be trusted. Even if he only plays 35 minutes, that is still heavy playing time. He averaged 9.9 3pt attempts a game last season, making 3.7. He shoots 1.5% better from 3 at home than on the road.

Jusuf Nurkic Over 1.5 blks+stls

POR @ SAC

The tanking Blazers sat most of their key players at the end of last season. Nurkic dealt with plantar fasciitis. We cannot fully say that he will play his full minutes in the first game of the season. He was regularly kept under 30 minutes in the beginning of last season. He then saw 30-36 close to the All-Star break. Nurkic is one of the better steal artists when it comes to centers. He has averaged at least 1.0 steals the last four seasons. Nurkic only averaged 0.6 blocks last season which is an outlier. He averaged well over 1 a game in most of his previous years. This matchup should be a track meet. Sacramento is known to be play fast with no defense. Extra possessions means more chances to rack up fantasy stats. As long as Nurkic can stay out of foul trouble, he can easily record 2 blocks + steals. He can obtain 2 in either category alone whereas other players typically cannot.

De’Andre Hunter Under 15.5pts

ATL vs HOU

The Altana Hawks acquired Dejounte Murray in the offseason. They should stagger his and Trae Young’s minutes. Hunter’s role on this team is to guard the opposing team’s best player. He is not someone who will isolate and score 1 on 1. His shots will come off of assists. This line might be inflated due to his last playoff series. Again, this Hawks roster is different. This game has a double-digit spread indicating that it could be a blowout. Atlanta is at home against a Rockets team that should try to tank this season. If this game does blowout, Hunter is not going to play his full minutes. It will be difficult for a low-usage player to score 16 points in limited playing time.

Ayo Dosunmu Over 1.5 to

CHI @ MIA

Zach LaVine is going to miss the opening Bulls game. Dosunmu is starting for the injured Lonzo Ball. This will put the ball in Dosunmu’s hands more which will lead to more passes being made and more chances for turnovers. Miami lost PJ Tucker but their roster is pretty much the same. They were extremely tough against opposing PGs last year. One of the key defenders against the position was Caleb Martin. He might start this season. Whether he does or not, he will get minutes. The Heat are going to be an elite defensive team. The focus will be on DeMar DeRozan but Dosunmu is going to initiate the offense. This is a difficult spot for teh young point guard.

Just missed the cut: Michael Porter Jr. O 13.5pt
