DFS NBA Full Court Press: FanDuel & DraftKings Main Slate – Dec. 14th, 2021

Main Slate Breakdown for NBA DFS 12/14:

Welcome to another year of the DFS Army NBA Full Court Press! Members had a ton of success using the Full Court Press along with various articles and tools that DFS Army provides last season, so we are glad to be back with another year of the all-inclusive article. You have to start your research somewhere, and oftentimes going game by game and breaking down every matchup and its key players is the first step in our process. My name is Mike aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the advice in the article. But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

Toronto Raptors @ Brooklyn Nets

Vegas Total: 216.0

Vegas Spread: Bkn -8.5

We’ll get this slate started with the Raptors, and it’s kind of the same old story with them. They’ll be without OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa, and Khem Birch again lining up Chris Boucher to get another start. The price on Boucher has come up but is a guy I’m going to continue to go to due to how good of a per-minute guy he is. Minutes have always been the big issue with him and now has at least 22 in three straight to go along with at least 23 DraftKings points in four straight. Fred VanVleet had a bit of a down game last night, but on a short slate, he’s a guy I will have some interest in. Pascal Siakam was on his way to a big night last night but had a really slow second half due to a blowout against the Kings, I don’t have a problem going right back to him here. Then you can round this team out with Gary Trent Jr. who will always be a guy I have interest in on a short slate at this price tag. From the Nets, they’ll get James Harden back here, so they’re back to where we expected them to be with Kyrie and Joe Harris still out. Both James Harden and Kevin Durant make for great plays. I never really love targeting this Raptors team due to how slow they can play, but on a short slate with these guys, I’ll be able to overlook that. I do like LaMarcus Aldridge here even in average form over his last few games. The Raptors frontcourt is obviously banged up and has a nice matchup with Chris Boucher and company down low. Then guys like Patty Mills, Bruce Brown, and Cameron Thomas are all fine GPP/value options on a short slate.

5-star play: Kevin Durant, James Harden, Chris Boucher

4-star play: Bruce Brown, Patty Mills, LaMarcus Aldridge, Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam

Deeper Value: Cameron Thomas

GPP Sleeper: Cameron Thomas, Bruce Brown, Gary Trent Jr.

Golden State Warriors @ New York Knicks

Vegas Total: 211.5

Vegas Spread: Gsw -3.5

Starting with the Warriors, Steph Curry hasn’t been in the best form as of late relative to his price tag and it sounds like this three-point record may be in his head a little bit. He should break it tonight in New York as he sits just two away, so I’m hoping once he sees those two go in he can let loose a bit. That being said, he’s going to be an option tonight due to the size of the slate and a massive upside. We kind of know the story with Draymond Green, he’s always going to be a fine option for me it just depends on whether or not he racks up steals/blocks to get to his ceiling. His ability to stuff the stat sheet gives him a nice floor/ceiling combo, but it also makes it hard to predict those nights because matchups really don’t matter for him. Andrew Wiggins is a solid tournament option. He’s been about a fantasy point-per-minute guy on the season and has played the best real-life basketball of his life with the Warriors. Jordan Poole is more of a GPP guy but has at least 32 DraftKings points in three of his last four games. Then you can round out the Warriors with Otto Porter Jr. as a GPP flyer, he has nice upside but is extremely volatile. From the Knicks, they’ll be without RJ Barrett tonight, below is how this team operates with him and Kemba Walker off the court this season:

These three would be my main interests, but Evan Fournier becomes interesting as well as his minutes should climb as well as shot opportunity. All that said, the biggest winner here will be Quentin Grimes who will get his second straight start for Barrett in this one. Last time out he put up 42 DraftKings points in 40 minutes of action. Assuming he starts again here, he makes for one of the best point per dollar plays on the slate.

5-star play: Steph Curry, Julius Randle, Quentin Grimes (assuming he starts)

4-star play: Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, Derrick Rose, Alec Burks

Deeper Value: Quentin Grimes, Otto Porter Jr.

GPP Sleeper: Jordan Poole, Otto Porter Jr., Evan Fournier, Mitchell Robinson

Phoenix Suns @ Portland Trailblazers

Vegas Total: 218.0

Vegas Spread: Pho -3.0

Starting with the Suns, not only will they be without Devin Booker tonight, but Deandre Ayton as well who has missed their past few games. Ayton being out really opens up JaVale McGee as a great option in all formats. McGee has some ridiculous numbers with these two off the court this season to the tune of a 26.9% usage rate and 1.4 fantasy points per minute. He’s an elite play again tonight and comes in in great form. Chris Paul is about a 1.2 point per minute guy as well and is a solid option in a great matchup with a Blazers team that struggles on defense. Mikal Bridges is just kind of a guy, I’ll be okay with whatever exposure I get to him, but he’s hard to prioritize. Jae Crowder will likely have to slide over and play some minutes at the five as well, he makes for an interesting tournament guy. Then Cam Johnson and Cameron Payne make sense as value options on this team, with Booker out there will be more shots available for them, and are coming into this one in great form. From the Blazers, Damian Lillard returned last game to play 37 minutes, so he’s clearly not on any sort of minutes restriction. He looked good in that game as well and a guy I like getting some exposure to in this one. Dennis Smith Jr. immediately went right back to the bench and played four minutes, you can take him right out of your player pool. Jusuf Nurkic makes sense as a secondary option in this matchup, it will help him with Ayton not in there. Norman Powell is going to continue to play heavy minutes, he’s a lot like Gary Trent Jr. where I’ll have exposure to them on a slate this size in hopes they get hot from three… kinda funny that they were traded for each other last season. Anfernee Simons kept seeing big minutes last time out and looked good doing so, he’s a solid secondary piece as well. We saw Larry Nance Jr. get the start over Robert Covington last time out as well and he looked good in that rotation. I’ll go right back to the well on him again here. Lastly, Nassir Little makes sense at his price tag as well, but won’t be a guy I end up prioritizing by any means.

5-star play: Chris Paul, JaVale McGee, Damian Lillard

4-star play: Jae Crowder, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Cameron Payne, Anfernee Simons, Jusuf Nurkic, Larry Nance Jr., Gary Trent Jr.

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Cam Johnson, Cameron Payne, Jae Crowder, Gary Trent Jr., Larry Nance Jr., Nassir Little

I wanted to give a quick shoutout to VIP member “GhostfaceKillaa” on his $30k win earlier in the season. A pivot to Curry off the chalky Doncic was the key for him, congrats man!
