Aces in the Hole: DFS Tennis Picks for January 14

The Aces in the Hole is here for a trio of free plays as DraftKings rolls out a $100,000 GPP for day two of the Australian Open. The Aces are now 34-14 all-time and we definitely don’t play it safe with the massive favorites here. My basic lineup construction in all formats is to focus on the mid-range with one moderate underdog in a lineup and fill in with favorites. There will always be exceptions but that’s my base starting approach for every build. Make sure to jump into VIP Chat for any questions and I’ll be dropping the rest of my player pool.

The Aces are three free plays but in Chat, VIPs have aces to my, and all our coaches, player pool. Not a VIP? Fix that and use code SNIPER for 10% off.

One last thing – if you don’t already, please give me a follow on Twitter and subscribe to my YouTube channel at the links below. OK, enough of the intro, let’s get to it.

MY TENNIS ACES FOR JANUARY 14

(Slate Locks at 8:15 pm ET)

ACES ALL-TIME RECORD: 34-14 (70.8%)

Dominika Ciblukova ($8,800) – I’m going to attack the  mid-range today and Ciblukova will be my highest priced player in today’s article as she’s a -227 favorite priced at $8,800. Ciblukova has lost two straight but one was to #12 Sevastova in August and the other was a 2-1 decision last week after the long lay off to prepare for the Aussie Open. Before that she rattled off six-of-seven wins, including Sloane Stephens, Gavrilova, Halep, and Niculescu. Her opponent, Shuai Zhang is riding a five match losing streak and the cherry on top for me is Ciblukova is 5-0 all-time against Zhang.

Venus Williams ($8,400) – Williams may be lower ranked than her opponent Buzarnescu but she is a -189 favorite priced right in the salary average you need for your roster construction. Williams hasn’t lost back-to-back matches since May and is 5-2 over her last seven matches against quality competition, including a quarterfinal run at Auckland. Common theme, her opponent is playing awful as Buzarnescu has lost six straight, including one to 102 ranked Minella. The form going in different directions, mixed with the odds and pricing put Venus Williams squarely on my radar.

Daria Kasatkina ($8,000) – Unlike the last two picks I’m going against current form and siding with qualify of players as Kasatkina takes on veteran Timea Bacsinszky. Kasatkina is currently ranked 10th in the world but has struggled recently with three consecutive losses, two to solid opposition but one worrisome result to #240 Birrell. Ultimately I believe her talent carries her past Bacsinszky both times and at $8,000 she presents solid value under the average salary line.

That’s it guys and girls! Jump into VIP chat and find me to talk about the slate and definitely let me know how we can improve our Tennis coverage at DFS Army.
