Hey, my name is Chris and I will be bringing you your DFS Football “afternoon delight.” This article will be focusing on the afternoon slates each week during the NFL season. The purpose of this article will be to put you on a successful path for this slate. I will break down each game, as well as giving you my favorite plays from those games. Each week this slate will have 2 to 4 games. This means ownership will be heavily concentrated on select players, which is both good and bad to a certain extent. Most of the time in these slates you will need at least two of those chalk players in order to stay with the competition. The key to winning this slate will be to differentiate yourself in other spots in order to get yourself to the top of those large field gpps.

Texans V Broncos
Starting with the Texans, Watson is almost always in play for me as both, a top cash and gpp option on any slate that he is available. Watson can do it all and his rushing ability is what makes him such a great play week in and week out. The Broncos defense has not been good and Watson should be able to take control of this game fairly quick. Watson could potentially be in a low owned spot this week with the other great QB’s that are on this slate. Hopkins is without a doubt one of the best WR in the NFL and he can break a slate any given weekend. He is matchup proof and I believe that a lot of people will overhype Thomas this weekend in his “revenge game.” There is no one on the Broncos team that is capable of stopping Hopkins and he is one of my favorite WR’s on this slate. Miller has been playing great this past couple of weeks and is looking like the running back that we had expected him to be coming into this season. Miller has a decent matchup once again this week and his price is low enough to take advantage of. I usually do not play road running backs, but Miller is in a good spot and the Texans should be winning for the majority of this game. I spoke on Thomas earlier and for me, I am completely fading him as it is usually hard to make an impact in the first game with a new team. However, I totally understand if you want to get exposure to him in MME contests. Other gpp considerations go out to Coutee and Jordan Thomas. On the Broncos side of the ball, we have several good options to look at this weekend.
Texans Top Gpp Plays: Watson, Hopkins, and Miller
On the other side of the ball, Sanders is far and away the best option on the Broncos this weekend. He gets the vast majority of targets from Keenum and he should be targeted early and often throughout this game. He let a lot of people down last week, and with a player like Sanders, I will gladly try to capitalize off of recency bias. Keenum is solely here due to price and the fact that he should be in comeback mode for the majority of this game. He has shown flashes of being a good QB in the NFL this season and at other times he just looks completely lost. This matchup is not an easy one either, so in an MME scenario, I would want exposure to him, but if I was playing a couple of lineups, he would not be a consideration. I want Lindsay whether freeman plays or not. Lindsay is a dual-threat back and should receive the majority of the workload this weekend. He is in a decent spot and is at a good enough price that we can take advantage of on this slate. Sutton is too cheap not to play. His workload increase makes for a very easy play in my opinion. However, I like him a lot more on DK than FD because he should see a target increase and on PPR sites like DK is where I prefer to play him. I do not see his value in the red zone rising that much and that is why I am not a huge fan of him on FD.

Chargers V Seahawks
On the Chargers side of the ball, my main target is Melvin Gordon. As long as he plays, which I believe he will, he is in an amazing spot. The Seahawks rush defense has been awful this season and Gordon should have a field day. His usage is just as good as Gurley and he is way cheaper. Given Gurley’s matchup, Gordon is my top running back heading into this weekend. Tyrell Williams is my top receiving option on this team. It is weird not talking about Allen, but he really has not done much this season and Williams has been the explosive WR for the team this year. He is always a threat to get 100 yards and 2 touchdowns and that’s what makes him a great gpp play. Ekeler is my next top play and if Gordon sits this game out, he becomes a near lock at his price. In the case where Gordon does play, I can still see Ekeler getting a good amount of work in this game. We have seen a couple of times so far this year what he can do with a less than full workload. Like I previously mentioned, this Seattle run defense is bad and at Ekeler’s price, he makes a great gpp play. Other Gpp considerations go out to Philip Rivers and Mike Williams. On the Seahawks side of the ball, Wilson is my top target. For some reason, Wilson always plays his best games in November and December. It may be that he just needs 8 weeks to get going or something, but this guy plays his best games in these later months of the season. He torched the Lions last week, and I can see him continuing his hot streak again this week. Baldwin is going to be my main stacking option on this slate. He only saw 3 targets last week, but I am expecting a much bigger game out of him this weekend. Baldwin is still Wilson’s favorite target and he will be in a supreme low ownership spot. I would not go crazy on Baldwin as he has not done too much this year, but the matchup and ownership leverage seems right this week. Moore will be chalk this weekend, and I do not think it is necessarily good chalk. The price is great, don’t get me wrong, but he only got 4 targets last week. He just made the very most out of those 4 targets. The Sutton chalk is what makes this spot hard because they will either split ownership or one will exceed the other. I believe the right play is Sutton, because his target share should increase this weekend and Moore’s will stay the same or he could be a complete non-factor. Other Gpp considerations go out to Carson IF he plays and Mike Davis if he does not.

Saints V Rams
Let’s start out with the Saints. Thomas is my favorite play on this Saints team this weekend. Thomas is too good for what the Rams have to offer on defense. Thomas will likely be covered by Peters, who has not been the shutdown corner he was expected to be this season. If the Saints want any chance in winning this game, they need to make sure Thomas is heavily involved. Brees is my 2nd favorite QB on this slate. Just like last weeks Rams game, this one is expected to be very high scoring. Brees has better playmakers than Rodgers does and with those playmakers, he should put up a great fantasy day this weekend. Kamara is still one of if not the most explosive running back in the NFL. His price is still a bit high, but that is what makes him a great gpp play. His ownership should be low, considering he is priced well below Gordon and Gurley and much higher than running backs like Miller, Carson, and Ingram. Watson is by far the best option at TE on this slate. His matchup is great going up against the Rams, but knowing that Watson is the best option at his position is a bit scary. With that being said he is in a great spot and will hold the majority of ownership at TE this weekend, so there is a very good reason to leverage to Dickson or Jordan Thomas. Lastly, Smith is a great value option, along with being a leverage spot off of Sutton. Smith is very much a gpp play and I believe Smith has the higher floor, but Sutton has the higher ceiling of the two. Other gpp considerations go out to Ingram. Basically, every major player on this Saints team is an option on this slate.
Saints Top Gpp Plays: Thomas, Brees, Kamara, Watson, and Smith
The same thing can be said with the Rams in being that the Majority of the players on this team are viable on this slate. Kupp is my favorite gpp play on this team, this is because he could potentially see a lower ownership because he is coming back off of injury. His matchup is amazing this weekend and he should see his normal workload, which also includes his great usage inside the red zone. Gurley is a much better play on Draftkings than he is on Fanduel due to price. On DK he is well worth the price and should carry the majority of ownership. However, on FD, I am way more inclined too at least go underweight on him. With all that being said, this is still Gurley and in life, there are a few guaranteed things, and one of them is Gurley reaching at least 20 fantasy points per game. He is going to get his usage and he will do great this weekend, just like every other week. Woods should avoid Lattimore this weekend and even with Kupp being back this week, he should still get anywhere between 6-9 targets in this game and should produce good numbers off of those targets. Since I like the pass catchers, and Gurley catches a lot of passes, I have to love Goff this weekend. Goff should have a great Sunday and it could potentially be his greatest game of the year. The matchup is right and the Saints do have a great run defense. You can stack Goff with multiple players on this team including Gurley. Goff will have a great game and will only be limited in 2 ways. Those ways include the Saints not being able to make this game competitive, which I do not see that happening and how many times Gurley rushes in for a touchdown. This game should be a back and forward shootout and it will be great for fantasy. Other gpp considerations go out to Cooks and Higbee.

The Extra Point is Up…
That game finished up our afternoon delight. *My favorite defensive plays are the Seahawks, Texans, Chargers, and Rams In that order. Whether you are preparing dinner on the east coast or wrapping up lunch on the west coast. Hopefully, your main slate lineups are currently crushing and if you played the early slate it would be great to see you guys at the top of those leaderboards. Feel free to hit me up in our channels for any questions. I am almost always available to talk to. Football is my passion and I am always willing to help out as much as possible. Cash games are fairly easy in these mini slates. Don’t try to be too cute with your lineups and you will be just fine. In gpps’ you will need to have a couple low owned plays to vault you to the top of the leaderboards along with some of the chalky plays as well.
