NHL Building Blocks – April 14

NHL Building Blocks – April 14

Four games on FD and two games on DK…and still some positioning to be had.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – April 14
The Goalie:
 Pyotr Kochetkov ($8400 DK / $8500 FD)
Goalie with the best spot on paper tonight; the Canes are a point out of the top spot in the East and have a great chance to grab two more against one of the worst teams in the league, especially offensively (a league-worst 2.16 goals per game and the fifth-worst power play).  Carolina has won four in a row and six of seven (three by shutout); Kochetkov should have an easy time tonight.

The Center:  Nathan Mackinnon ($N/A DK/ $10700 FD)
Four points behind the league leader in scoring, but a contender for the Hart; four goals (30 shots!) and six assists in his last five games and should be able to do what he wants.

The Wing:  Jake Guentzel ($8400 DK/ $9200 FD)
Six goals (16 shots) and two assists in his last five games and has 24 points in 16 games since being traded to Carolina; great spot tonight.

The Defenseman:  Mackenzie Weegar ($6800 DK / $7200 FD)
Great floor; five points, 13 SOG, and 11 blocks in L5 and has a good matchup tonight.

The Value:  Anthony Mantha ($N/A DK / $5300 FD)
Two goals and two assists in L5 seeing good minutes on L2/PP2.

The Stack: CAR1 (Aho-Guentzel-Jarvis)
Playing for the top seed in the East, the Canes have a great matchup on paper against a Blackhawks defense that is virtually non-existent.  Carolina has won four in a row and have a top-10 offense (8th in goals per game and 4th in power play).  Mix in Svechnikov as a solid secondary piece.

The Builder:  CAR/CGY ML parlay
