NHL Building Blocks – March 29

NHL Building Blocks – March 29

Solid showdown tonight to start off the weekend.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – March 29
The Goalie:
 Jake Allen ($10400 DK / $N/A FD)
Devils have won four of their last five games and are up to 10th in the East, so they’ve got an outside shot at squeaking into the playoffs, but they’ll have to be close to perfect to do so, and winnable games like this one will be necessary.  Allen has been solid since being traded to New Jersey, winning five of his last seven starts here, and Buffalo’s offense doesn’t light the world on fire.

The Center:  Jack Hughes ($10800 DK/ $16000 FD)
Five goals (24 shots) and three assists in his last five games and still playing like an elite force even though his team is out of it.

The Wing:  Timo Meier ($8600 DK/ $13500 FD)
Five goals and four assists in his L5; playing some of his best hockey of the season.

The Defenseman:  Rasmus Dahlin ($9200 DK / $13000 FD)
One of the most secure floors in the league; averages three shots and two blocks per game.  Devils have some firepower, so he’ll be needed all around.

The Value:  Alexander Holtz ($4000 DK / $8000 FD)
Two goals in his last five games; L2 with Hughes and also seeing time on PP2.

The Stack: NJ2 (Hughes-Haula-Holtz)
Has nice upside simply because it’s Hughes and because it misses the Sabres’ top line. Seven goals and five assists in their last five games between this trio.

The Builder: none
